Summer Scarves in Three Styles

These light, delightful cotton scarves offer a variety of techniques and length and width options. The bead option is simple, adding them after the fact-- no stringing certain numbers of beads in advance. Detailed instructions for every feature (the ball-shaped fobs, the "big fat tassels") are included. One aspect of Brown-Reinsel's work that we strongly admire is her insistence on giving credit where she feels it's due. Here she acknowledges Mary Thomas's Book of Knitting Patterns and Nicky Epstein's Knitted Embellishments. The yarn used is no longer available, but any DK-weight cotton or cotton blend should perform well. 4mm needles are used throughout; a general DK-weight gauge on 4mm needles is given below. Finished gauge given for farthest-right scarf is 6 sts= 1 in/2.5 cm.
