2380 Cardigan (ages 2 - 13)

We are listing this very pretty cardi as a beginner pattern, because you know what? Even newbies can make a frill. It's fun, and easy, and you'll surprise yourself. Here Sirdar has you make the front frills (and they're just ribbing with decreases, and the back is plain st st, frill-less) separately. Then just knit the live frill stitches-- which you've kept on a needle-- together with the body stitches of the front, and before you know it, you've done something miraculous. Other than the frills, everything's very classic and simple: straight sides, set-in sleeves, sloped shoulders.
