9709 Sweater

It's NOT a sweater by our standards. It's a VEST or GILET. But such a fabulous one! And an ambitious beginner can make it. You want to be able to take long strides in it, so the front should be short; yet some bottom coverage is usually flattering, so we want a long back. Look at the way the hem is scooped here! Perfect. And the curve of the neckline seems to echo it, which gives a lovely kind of symmetry to the piece. Armholes are left to roll in naturally; there's no extra finishing needed. Fun to make, and fast, and then great to wear, too.
