NHK15-7 Monkey (ages 4 - 10)

Here is a delightful little top for young girls. The back is plain st st after a little lacy hem (extremely easy), with the back neck properly dipped for a refined fit. Armholes are lightly curved and elbow sleeves have a good high cap. On the front, you just work the 'window box' lacy pattern and embroider the flowers on afterwards (using oddments if you can, of course). The embroidery instructions have you work from a photo as a model (no graphs or charts), and some familiarity with lazy daisy and stem stitches would be helpful. Or of course, you can just make up your own treatment. Note that the original worsted weight (10 ply) yarn was worked at a DK tension for a smooth glossy fabric.

This design was originally published in Nashua Handknits Book 15, Zoo.
