9600 Waistcoat

It's often the case that you're a pretty decent knitter in terms of skill, but Have No Time. In that case, a vest like this is a splendid choice. It's chock full of interesting (like lots of wrapped short rows), it's flattering, it looks great in various styles of yarn, and it won't take forever to make. You make the upper back (in double moss stitch) first, then the lower back sideways, then the fronts. Intriguingly, the big cable band is worked of a piece with the main fabrics-- no sewing it on afterwards. Gauge is given over double moss stitch, and is the same as stockinette gauge would be for this yarn and needle size.
