for Istex - Iceland 2008
28 -10 Teikn (ages 2 - 5)
Here is something startlingly easy and timelessly pretty-- a dress/tunic/jumper that requires minimal shaping and virtually no finishing. You begin in the round at the hem, and work up in the round, slightly decreasing skirt fullness as you go. You cast off stitches for the armholes, then cast some on again immediately above them; then continue up the yoke, working the traditional fair isle patterning-- three rows of back-and-forth moss stitch for the neckband, and you're done. If you like, you can crochet a buttonloop at one side of the neckband and sew on a button at the other side, but you don't have to. Weave in ends, block, and you've got a gorgeous little piece for home or school. From Lopi Book 28.
