To our publishers and customers

[April 30, 2019] After almost 11 successful years in business, Patternfish will cease selling patterns on 31 May, 2019.

We will continue to make our customers' stashes accessible to them to the end of 30 June, 2019, in order to provide them with time to save their purchased patterns to their personal hard drives.

Thank you all so very much for your enthusiastic support over the years.  It has meant an enormous amount to us.

9644 Sweaters

Here is a plain drop-shoulder sweater (though the sleeve caps are rounded) with straight sides, whose entire interest and focus is comprised of two things: a) the yarn, and b) the neckline. The shawl collar (inset) is lovely and traditional-- but the splendid Montana DK subverts that and makes it pop. But the neckline in the main photo is something we haven't really seen before, and made us whistle when we saw it. It's done in two stages. First you pick up the few stitches across the front and rib them for a while; then you knit a separate collar and sew it to the ribbing and neckline of the sweater. Fascinating and beautiful and simple-- the neckline as accessory.
