Astrid Ellingsen,
Vedis Jonsdottir

for Istex - Iceland   2008

28-13 Astrid

Lopi is inherently dramatic in that it's utterly unique (because it comes exclusively from the unique Icelandic sheep). Therefore it seems inevitable that there should be a dramatic sweep of a Lopi coat in a traditional yoke design to light up winter streets-- so ethically specific that it's always in fashion. There are two pockets in this garment, which you can work or not as you please. Knit in traditional round fashion and cut open at the front; front bands are worked up from stitches on hold at the hem, with a facing. Note that press studs are called for in place of buttons. This design is from Lopi Book 28.
