Dale Garn (formerly Dale of Norway)

5204 Cortina (in Freestyle)

"The Cortina design-- now knit in Freestyle-- was official attire for the Norwegian Olympic team in Cortina, 1956," says the company. And it is one of the most popular and celebrated designs produced in its entire history for several reasons. Note that this version is not knit to the original sport tension (24 sts to 4"/10cm), but to an Aran one (18 sts to 4"/10cm) has a different neck treatment than the original: instead of a slash/boatneck, the collar area is filled in with a ribbed piece (knit separately and sewn on). Traditionally made with the body and sleeves in the round, the armholes cut open after machine-sewn reinforcement, and facing at the sleeve tops. Chart is large and clear. Hat is knit in the round.
