Sirdar

2012

9621 Waistcoat
WEB EXCLUSIVE

Oh, we seized on this design when we first saw it: it's so wonderful. Simple, of course-- just the double seed (Sirdar calls it double moss stitch) fabric, which needs no non-curling edge treatment whatsoever, but nevertheless looks smashing with the reverse st st welt treatment at front edges and armhole borders. The shoulders are extremely sloped so you don't get that nasty flange-y effect that sometimes happens when you build the sleeves out from the body of the garment (see schematic). Anyway, as you can see, it's easy and fantastic-looking-- the vest as very sharp short-sleeved jacket.
