3937 Family Guernsey Sweaters
The glorious genuine article. Here is an authentic gansey design written especially for the traditional, tightly-spun, hard-wearing Guernsey 5 ply yarn. Go look at the history books: this pattern includes a traditional cast-on method (in addition to a cable cast on), and most every stitch element present in the garments of this genre knitted 100 years ago. Sleeves are not picked up from armholes (though you could), but knitted from armhole to cuff nevertheless and sewn in later. Buttons on left shoulder. No charts, but stitch patterns are smallish and logical. Publication date unknown.
