A beautiful hybrid. This sweater is made in standard pieces, flat; then all the pieces are joined at the yoke and finished with shaping interspersed evenly among the cables-- but still worked flat. At the end, you sew the back left shoulder and neckband seams, and side and sleeve seams, and that's it. The result is a lovely, comfortable, tunic-length, ethnic-looking sweater that looks like it was knitted in the round, although it wasn't. Quick to make and always in style. Hug is no longer available, but possible substitutes abound-- just get gauge. A similar style in a DK weight of yarn is Sirdar 8959.
