Bergere de France

c.2009

121-78 Sweater with a Zip Neck (ages 6 - 16)
WEB EXCLUSIVE

Our 10-year-old son gave a shout-out of approval to this design as he raced past, so that's a fine sign. It's not at all fussy, but not boring, either. The 'fancy rib' is just mistake stitch rib-- that lush mainstay of gorgeous non-curling fabric; and the stripes just make it sportier. If you don't mind the little purl bumps of contrasting colour, then just add the new colours in pattern. If you want a knife-sharp transition-- as here-- just knit the first row of the new colour on the public side (or purl it on the private side), then continue on with the stitch pattern as set. It will be almost invisible.
