371 Downhill Skiers Pullover and Hat
You tend to find this type of fair isle work on sweaters done in a much finer yarn than this one. This sweater's hefty wool makes for an ideal outdoor garment, being double-thick (because of the fair isle carries) virtually throughout. Every timeless element of the genre is here: the skiing motif, the bird's eye seeding pattern, the leafy or petal-y framing of the main graphic and cuffs. The hat (knitted in the round, where the sweater is knitted flat) has a witty paper bag closure at the crown. (Heritage is the same yarn as Candide sold under another name-- Ed.)
