NHK42-1 Collared Garter Stitch Jacket
Those knitters who are always on the lookout for wonderful new constructions in top-down pieces should now sit up very straight: this is amazing. You begin with the collar and work down, occasionally working back-and-forth with wrapped short rows (though as the pattern says, you needn't pick up the wraps to close gaps in garter stitch, just leave them). The mitred body fabric is madly flattering, and shows off every possible style of yarn. Original yarn was 100% wool, heavy worsted weight (4 - 4.5 sts to 1"/2.5cm on a US 7 - 9/4.5 - 5.5mm needle). The shaping demands some attention, but so will you when you wear it. Sleeve seams are the only sewing. Gauge given over garter stitch. From Nashua Handknits Book 42, Shenandoah.
