for Straker Classics 1984
770-P Jennifer Pullover
Penny Straker: “Knit in DK weight yarn, Jennifer is a classic Raglan sleeve pullover adorned with the Mock Cable for the yoke, sleeve and body cuffs. The Mock Cable is a simple yet lovely openwork stitch, with the cable twist worked without a third needle.
“The only caveat: When working an allover pattern stitch, which includes a Yarn Over and also working a decrease pattern (in this case, the Raglan decreases), it is essential to pay attention and not negate the Raglan decreases by working the YO when there are insufficient stitches remaining for a Mock Cable! Easy enough to do just by looking ahead right after working the Raglan decrease, to see if there are the 3 necessary stitches to complete one ‘cable’.
“Jennifer can be knit in a wide variety of fibers, each one influencing the function of the design – although best in smoother rather than highly textured yarns."
This design proved so popular that a Child's Jennifer Cardigan was created as well.
