14.3 Shawl with Plaited Border

The shawl is constructed like old Danish peasant shawls, which were intended for warmth, not finery. Most of these shawls were knitted in triangular shapes, and worked in garter stitch enlivened by a few borders in lace knitting. The shawl is fashioned to fall nicely over the shoulders of the wearer.
