for Classic Elite Yarns 2011
Loberg says this is "a garter stitch jacket with braid cable and I-cord edges. Piece begins at center back of the lower body and works around to center front. Sts for the bodices are picked up along edge of the lower body pieces and worked to shoulder, then seamed at shoulders. Sleeve sts are picked up from the armhole and worked flat to cuff. Braid panels are knit then sewn along the lower edges of the body and the sleeves, down the center of the back and each front, and an I-Cord edging is worked around the neck edge to finish." It is of course a fine elaboration of Sally Melville's iconic Einstein Coat, with its two-directional garter stitch-- and the addition of the back braid panel and some waist shaping within the garter stitch. Just stunning. Gauge given over garter stitch, unstretched.
