"I was thinking it would be good to have gloves that are very long to wear with the capes they are showing (for F/W 2011); also as an extra layer under coats with short sleeve tops," remarks Porter. And here she employs a splendid lace stitch that's completely reversible. For the gloves, it means you can wear them over the elbow, fully extended, or folded back towards the wrist once for a rich deep cuff. And for shawl fans it's a joy not having to worry about which side is public at any given moment (and the lace isn't hard, either-- 7 rows). Lace cuff is worked flat, then then glove hand is picked up from it and finished circularly.
