Not all shawlettes need be lace-centric. Here Hansen has taken a beautiful, venerable old knit/purl pattern and offset it with a modest lace border, but the knit/purl pattern is the focus here. It's a timeless one, and therefore we especially love that the designer has used the Riveting jeans yarn for the piece; it seems to reinforce the history aspect of it. You work the garter edge lengthwise first (fold it back for a shawl collar effect!), and then move into the body pattern, then finish with the lace edging.
