This looks wonderful, and somewhat challenging, but is simply composed of knit and purl stitches in intarsia and fair isle. For a simple shell, Hansen has done wonders; she just has you work columns of purl intarsia (which you fair isle across the column), snugging them a bit so they raise up slightly. The back is plain st st. Shoulders are shaped; back neck is straight. Armholes are self-finishing (i.e., left to curl in on their own). The outer CC purl columns do frame the neck, as shown.
