This fanciful piece reminds us of nothing so much as the work of the great fairy tale illustrators of the early 20th century-- Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen and others. There is the same strange wondrous prettiness here. The collar and cuffs are edged with tiny bobblets (done through a casting-off technique, not hard at all); the body hem and buttonbands are a standard rib. The skirt is belled; sleeves set in. The back sports the same open cable/bobble pattern as the front, two panels on either side of the centre. Something very much out of the ordinary.
