These pieces delight us. Perhaps no yarn company would commission such things. But Avery must have thought: "they're pretty and useful, and what a good introduction to working on fine needles; perhaps after this people won't worry so much about doing work in finer yarns." And now we have this dainty pair which combine the best elements of knitting and crafting (in the case of the barrette), and teach us useful knitting techniques too.

Gauge given is over garter stitch.
