"The sweater is fun to knit in different directions with a simple garter ridge as the design element," says Bylsma. "Because of the different directions, however, work a sizeable swatch to make sure you are on gauge to avoid disappointment later. Although the sweater shown is in a wool blend, it works equally well in a DK weight cotton or cotton blend on #9 needles for an airy summer sweater. Yarn suggestions are given for both."
