Fringe Benfits Coat
WEB EXCLUSIVE

"Knitting sideways is a fun change of pace and offers the opportunity to add self-fringe," says Bylsma. "When measuring, hold the piece up since sideways knitting will stretch vertically and pull in horizontally-– the opposite of vertical knitting. The side to side measurement (top to bottom) as you knit will be shorter than the finished length measurement given because the fringe will add an extra inch. Be sure to cast on with a long tail or double strand cast on and don’t change yarns anywhere in the last four stitches of what will be the bottom edge of the coat. That will be where your fun, fabulous fringe appears."
