"If you enjoy 'playing' with yarn, as I do, this is a wonderful way to use your favorite yarns to great advantage," observes Bylsma. "The pillow uses a rag, or what I call a 'Diva Stitch', to create fringe on the surface. The same stitch creates the fringe on the bottom of the lamp. The secret is to knit a 'sticky' yarn tighter than usual in order to hold the fringe in place. Combine as many textures as you like to give the diva fringe a rich look-– ribbon, mohair, glitz, wools, slubs, etc. Just avoid yarns that will fray on the ends (or burst into flames-- Ed.). If you like eyelash, add it to your knitting yarn rather than using it as cut fringe. Warning, this can be addicting, but what great gifts!" Indulge your inner Carrie Bradshaw or Scarlett O'Hara. Gauge given over garter stitch.
