"A circular shawl using traditional Shetland patterns, in a very non-traditional colour," explains Atherley. "Suitable for knitters with some lace experience, Shetland Skies uses the 'Pi' method popularized by Elizabeth Zimmerman. A single skein of sock yarn makes a shawl about 32 inches/80 cm in diameter; a second skein adds about 10 inches/25 cm to that. This would be equally wonderful in a DK or heavier yarn - just use larger needles." This is a remarkably beautiful shawl; laid flat, or worn with just a bit of the fabric folded back over your shoulders, it looks like a snowflake from fairyland. Worked from the centre out.
