California Dreamin'

"Reflecting the colour of California poppies, this summer top makes for a dreamy piece. Worked in a net-like stitch pattern, accented with rows of decorative Grand Eyelet Lace, it can be worn at the beach or to an evening party," says Leja. It's a remarkable piece, fascinating and fun to work (you purl 4 together once in a while, and the shoulders are shaped with wrapped short rows, but you can do that). It's a modified drop or peasant sleeve for a more refined fit than usual. Shoulders are cast off together: always a joy. Underarm and side seams are sewn after blocking. Leja writes a magnificent pattern, the better to make a magnificent garment (summer doesn't usually have this much glamour).
