"This jacket is easy and fun to knit and is so cute!" says Wolcott. "The slip-stitch pattern will showcase handpainted yarns but it is just as effective done in solid colors. The body is worked in one piece, then the sleeves are cast on and worked as part of the fronts and back, then joined at the shoulder and underarm. The hood is added at the neckline-- or the neckline can be finished with the simple garter trim that is used to edge the jacket." This design is so popular that Y2Knit has reworked it in several different gauges; this is the worsted (10 ply) one (a chunky/14 ply version is available here, and a DK/8ply version is available here.). In addition to its great charm, it's also a superb vehicle for testing colour combinations and using up oddments.
