Knit from the neck down, this is a very easy, almost circular shawl that nevertheless wafts femininity. Detailed notes are provided for a firm cast-on, placement of markers (for increasing) and how to perform an 'm1L' and 'm1R'. Afterwards, the instructions are written out pretty much row by row. A lovely schematic shows exactly where your increase markers are in the grand scheme of things, and it is "fastened with a pin or brooch-- a wonderful way to showcase a favorite piece of jewelry (and you!)" as Dempsey says. The feather and fan edging is very simple, and one of the classics of our canon.
