Annie Dempsey
for Oat Couture 1996
AC303 Ripple Beret & Scarf
"This pretty set uses the feather and fan stitch to great advantage," says Dempsey. Indeed it does, and if you've never worked lace before, this is a wonderful place to start. Instructions are clear and comprehensive. Make the scarf (flat, of course) first, and then the beret in the round; you start at the brim, and Dempsey gives you how to work virtually every round separately (complete with decreases) so it's very easy to follow. A great gift, and a glorious showcase for all manner of solid or variegated yarns.
