"This loose-fitting linen coat was designed to be worn over our linen dress Taya, but would look great over anything," says a too-modest Van Stralen. "The multiple patterns add texture as well as interest. The coat is knit in one piece to the underarms and then divided." We are unable to understand why designing a piece like this doesn't take a decade; but Van Stralen wisely keeps the silhouette simple (armholes are indented once, and sleeves are unshaped rectangles), and plays only with the combination of stitch patterns to stunning effect.
