Knitted widthwise in garter stitch (you can see the grain of the ridges), this is a splendid design just right for the season, and beautiful to wear or give. Matthews writes an extremely clear pattern, and you get both written-out and charted instructions. If you use the provisional cast on and a three-needle bind-off, there's no sewing at all. Gauge given is over garter stitch.
