This would be immensely satisfying for a beginner, as well as a great illustration of a handdyed yarn's power. Here Carroll and Limber take a sock yarn and knit it at a great big gauge in garter stitch (the gauge below is given so) for extra drape and fluidity. You start at the top and work straight, gradually increasing, down towards the lower, eyeletted edge. The whole thing is very simple, and versatile, and would work as a large scarf, too. There's a nifty little I-cord fastening band to which you attach a single bead; the only standout embellishment, and a sweet and true one.
