FD-43 Siskiyou Trail

"Named for the Siskiyou Trail, a Native American train that would its way through central California's valleys up into Oregon, and was used by settlers as the shortest path from San Francisco to northern Oregon, this pattern winds its way up the hand in a lacy zigzag," reports Patterson. "Knit in the round with a thumb gusset." Most unusually and generously, this fingerless mitt pattern is written in 5 sizes. Beautiful, intricate, fascinating, and very thoroughly charted too-- the thumb gusset has a chart all for itself, showing exactly how to proceed depending on your size. A treat.
