Certainly they could just stand there and be admired; De Longpre has invested such time and care in designing not only they themselves, but their charming accessories-- the beret, the fedora, the bonnet, earmuffs, and yes, even mittens on a string-- that you want them to move in with you right away. As a seasonal decoration they can't be beat, and none of the knitting itself is at all difficult. Instructions are pretty much line by line.
