A perfectly representative garment of its time, when fantasy was free-flowing and imaginations unfettered. Those who are comfortable with intarsia (picture knitting) will find this a joy; the arrogant and unhumble will find it rather more inhospitable. It is rich with technique and applied embroidery after the fact, and you can argue that it's actually kind of ethnic in a way, if you assume that knitters have their own varied culture. Neither of the original yarns are still around, but Provence for its gloss and Sundance for its lightness would be gorgeous substitutes.
