"A thrilling combination," says Alfke. "Fingering-weight yarn on huge needles, and no pooling in hand-painted yarn? Yum." She's perfectly right, of course. Alfke (oddly) has a lot in common with Stephen King: knitters will buy any pattern she issues, no matter what for, because the writing is so good. And this is a fantastic piece. It's beautifully structured, feminine and practical; novel and yet somehow familiar, like a lot of great art. Brilliantly thorough and great fun to read, with many little helpful diagrams.
