Gather up your skirts, fling a fichu over your shoulders, make sure there are some shillings in your reticule, and take a walk in your spiritual Meryton. Here is your fichu. It's a splendid piece (make sure you read Gemmell's engaging comments on the second data page) with enormous potential and versatility. Very quick to make, it would actually look great with some jackets, and it comes in two handy sizes-- kerchief and full-blown shawl. Could also replace a bedjacket for doctor visits, if you know one who still makes house calls. Lace isn't charted, but there are only 8 short rows to it, so you'll manage fine. The pale pink fichu here was made in Cabin Fever's Cotton Tweed DK doubled.
