This is Gallimore's first ever shawl design, and it is every bit as exquisite as any of her renowned socks. "My favourite yarn in my favourite lace pattern," she says shyly. "Fleece Artist Blue Face Leicester 2/8 in Vine Lace with a viney variation for the edge and a picot cast off." Here is her great experience with colour and texture writ large: there's an enormous amount of value variation in the colours here, yet it all works melodically well together as a coherent whole. Knit in a triangle from the centre back out to the edges. Lightly blocked, the shawl measures 212cm(83.5inches) by 100cm(39.4inches). Yarn is a light fingering (2/8) Bonus points: no specific gauge is given, though the designer recommends a 3.5mm/US4 32" circular needle to hold all the stitches. "Gauge is not an issue," she reassures you, "but a swatch will help you find your preferred drape."
