A worthy contestant in the Perfectly Plain Sweater derby. The only conceivable frippery in this garment is the lengthy rib; it extends for 6" (15cm) up from the hem and cuffs, and while that could be considered an "embellishment", the fact remains that you could shorten it to a more traditional length and have a sweater with no particular distinguishing features at all. Or, if you wanted to add an extra fashion note, just continue knitting the 2 x 2 neckband high enough to be a stand-up turtleneck; instant cachet without much extra effort.
