This madly appealing unisex hat has many advantages. First, the styling is not male or female, just clean and effective. Second, it's a compelling way to learn about colour combinations. Third, the fair isle treatment recommended has no long floats, so it's hard to mangle it up by pulling the unused colour too tightly on the inside. Fourth, it's good practice for learning to do fair isle on circular needles; the crown is one colour only, so you don't have to worry about fair isle-ing on DPN's with two colours. Fifth, you can learn to crochet a bit around the lower edge, if you like. Out of space!
