"This rectangular shawl starts at one end with a provisional cast on," says Patterson. "The first motif is knit on this end, a second in the center, returning to the first motif on the other side. The border, a third vine motif, is knit on last. This design is beautiful knit in a solid color, or with a contrasting border." Patterson has a pronounced talent for arranging the flow of one lace pattern to another (see the lower central photo on the data page), and uses that talent extraordinarily well here. Lace patterns are not written out, just very well charted.
