"The pattern is knit from the center toward one edge from a provisional cast on," explains Patterson. "The second side is knit after the first is completed by picking up the other side of the cast on chain, and repeating the pattern. It's written for three sizes: narrow scarf (wide scarf, stole). The narrow scarf assumes a thick lace weight or fingering weight yarn, while the other sizes assume a finer lace weight yarn."
