You don't completely appreciate an alpaca garment until you wear it. It's so smooth, so intensely warm and soft and light, long-stapled and hard-wearing, that it seems impossible. But it's real-- and these three pieces represent the best ways to display alpaca's gifts. The fair isle pieces are many times warmer than wool, with their double thickness of partially hollow, air-trapping fibres. The lyrical bottom piece (first gauge below), with its wonderful overall panel framed by simple rope cables, is just a joy.
