Reynolds and Khouri both excel at this sort of thing-- the handsome, assured, but easy family sweater. Here traditional guernsey elements are wrought large (which we believe makes guys look manly and women smaller and more feminine, somehow). The yarn is so chunky that the actual making of these garments is a comparatively small time commitment. Cables are only crossed once every 8 rows, so that's simple; back and front neck are shaped for classy tailoring; shoulders and sleeves are unshaped, for swift assembly. Fantastic size range.
