Alfke is resolute in her determination to teach knitters to knit simple pieces without patterns-- hence, the Unpattern. This is a superb universal teaching vehicle, full of tips, and with one of the biggest, most informative, dramatic schematics we have ever seen. Possible gauges and needle sizes for fingering/sock, sport/DK, and worsted yarns are provided. But since the author wants you to work with what you have, there's no dogma. No photos are included in the pattern, since Alfke objects to "preconceived" ideas of what your gorgeous creation will look like.
