Here Avery's couturiere genius is on full display; this jacket is unique, beautifully formed, with fully fashioned armholes and gorgeous high sleeve caps. The melding of the various stitch techniques is the highlight of this piece. The neckline, hem, and sleeve edges are the Indian Cross Stitch, fascinating to work; the other stitchwork seems to belong inevitably with it. The shawl is a virtuoso piece as well, though without the cross stitch to catch on things-- so smart. From 2007.
