Alfke is wise and funny and knowing, and so is this wonderful pattern. Certainly all the technical details and instructions are here, but so are little comments charmingly interspersed throughout. While knitting this gorgeous piece, should you ever wonder "but what about...?" you find that thought answered by the next line or two; it's as if the designer were gently talking you through the process, coaching you as you advance. Alfke takes the time to have you check the fit before placing the sleeve divisions, one of the great advantages of knitting top-down. Great fun, and empowering to boot. From 2007.
