Alfke tells the story: "My friend Julia is a talented young pianist and fellow 'monster knitter'. She showed up at the yarn shop one day sporting these lightweight hand warmers out of fingering weight yarn. They have no fingers to interfere with movement, so they keep your hands warm while playing piano, typing-- or knitting! I couldn't resist riffing on the original by adding some beads around the cuff. This is a great first pattern for those just learning to knit on double-pointed needles or to work with beads in knitting." Alfke, a teacher at Stitches and other knitting events across North America, writes a beautiful pattern that is also beautiful in itself.
